Do you dream of a new living room design, but you don't have it in your budget to replace all the furniture, so you do nothing and just continue to dream? Well, wake up, sis! You can design a lovely room on a budget - just replacing a few things. And to prove it, I've designed not one but TWO mood boards using one of the ugliest pieces of furniture I could find - this ugly-ass couch your grandma bought in the 1970s and kept throughout your childhood (and, let's be honest, your adulthood).

Design 1: Moody and Broody
With dark walls and a combination of mid-century modern and traditional accents, this room feels like an old archaeologist's study. You barely notice the fugly couch, right?!
Design 2: Light and Bright
A great contrast to Design 1, this light and bright mid-century-inspired room makes the couch look purposeful - not like a design flaw at all.
