Your powder room is arguably one of the most important places in your home. When guests come over, there's almost a 100% chance they will end up in your powder room. And, unlike the other rooms in your home, they'll be alone. With their thoughts, their curiosity and their judgments. Now, you must ask yourself: when your boss' wife is popping a squat in your half-bath, is she thinking, "wow, this place sucks" or "my, my, my, I'll have to tell my husband to give this person a promotion!"
No one knows this better than my friend, Kim, who asked me to create a mood board to spruce up her builder-grade half-bath. And because I can't stop at just one, I created three mood boards for Kim. The only stipulation was that we had to keep the same hardwood flooring that's in there now. She also mentioned she wanted to do something with navy blue, and was thinking of doing a half-wall paint treatment.
Option 1: What she asked for
Here's the navy bathroom Kim originally wanted. My favorite part of this bathroom is not the navy paint, but rather the red rug. Navy paint is borderline overdone these days, but this rug is truly unique, making the navy feel less cliché.
Option 2: Feminine AF
This is surely a bathroom that's just too beautiful to poop in, which is exactly what you want your guests to think in your powder room. Seriously - save that shit (pun intended) for your own house.
I created the entire room around the vanity. I love the forest green.
Option 3: Super cute and welcoming
Is this option a little too welcoming? Maybe. But will it inspire the boss' wife to insist you get a promotion on the ride home? Likely.
